Tala Surgical Inc. was founded by Dr. Cesar Talavera who is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon from Hatillo, Puerto Rico and who has worked in private practice since 2008. The idea to create GauzeStix came to him after noticing that most patients find the traditional way of biting gauze after extractions to be unpleasant and distasteful. In the search for a design that could make things easier and more convenient for his patients after extractions, Dr. Talavera went through multiple prototypes. Eventually he came up with a design that helped patients by eliminating the need to fold the gauze themselves. Most importantly, the design eliminated the need for patients to introduce their hands into their mouths or the need to touch the used gauze during removal. Our goal is to continue making the patients’ experience as pleasant as possible when biting gauze after extractions and to help them go home after extractions with the best impression possible of their dentist’s practice.
